What does P0016 mean?
The DTC P0016 (Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation) is a fault code stored by the ECU when it detects a cam-crank correlation condition in the timing subsystem. It is commonly seen on European and Asian vehicles using Bosch, Continental, Siemens or Denso ECUs.
Common causes of P0016
- Stretched/jumped timing chain
- Failed VVT phaser
- Bad cam/crank sensor

Critical — inspect timing chain immediately. Tuning cannot fix this.
