What does P0316 mean?
The DTC P0316 (Misfire Detected on Startup (First 1000 Revolutions)) is a fault code stored by the ECU when it detects a cold-start misfire condition in the ignition subsystem. It is commonly seen on European and Asian vehicles using Bosch, Continental, Siemens or Denso ECUs.
Common causes of P0316
- Cold-start fueling issue
- Failing injectors at low duty
- Weak coils at low voltage
- Carbon buildup (DI engines)

Common on direct-injection engines with carbon on intake valves. Walnut blast + injector clean.
