Hardware Protection Service
Optional add-on for the Yearly Unlimited plan. Coverage up to 600 EUR if the ECU dies, subject to strict T&Cs.
500 EUR per year · Renews annually · Cancel anytime in your profile
Who can buy it
Available exclusively with the Yearly Unlimited plan (790 EUR/year). If you are on Standard, Pro, Monthly Unlimited, 1h Daily, or a free trial, this add-on is not available to you. Upgrading to Yearly Unlimited unlocks the option.
What is covered
Coverage applies only when ALL of the following are true:
- The ECU is completely dead — no signal of life, no OBD response, no communication via any tool.
- The failure was directly caused by a tuning file delivered through our Cloud Vault.
- The customer has a full ECU backup (not just the BIN map — complete dump including EEPROM and calibration) uploaded to the policy at activation.
- The customer holds an active Yearly Unlimited plan at the time of the incident and at the time of claim submission.
- The failure occurred after the 15-day waiting period from policy purchase.
- The claim is filed within 5 days of the incident.
- The customer provides complete technical evidence (see "How a claim works" below).
Maximum payout: 600 EUR per incident, ONE incident per lifetime.
What is NOT covered
- Engine not starting, rough idle, warning lights, error codes, performance issues — if the ECU still responds to OBD, it is not "dead". The customer can restore the original file and continue.
- Any failure of components other than the ECU itself: injectors, turbo, sensors, wiring, immobiliser, gearbox, etc.
- ECUs that were previously remanufactured, reflashed by another tuner, or have a broken/opened seal.
- Used ECUs (the unit must be the one originally fitted to the vehicle, documented).
- Vehicles with non-OEM hardware modifications (turbo upgrade, larger injectors, hybrid conversion, etc.).
- Commercial vehicles (trucks, buses, taxis, fleet vehicles).
- Customers outside the EU/EEA + UK + Switzerland.
- Vehicles still under the manufacturer’s factory warranty (double coverage is not legal).
- Any case where the customer cannot provide a full ECU backup (not just BIN). Without it, the customer accepts full responsibility for any ECU failure.
- Claims missing any required evidence, or where evidence shows tampering, modification post-flash, or VIN mismatch.
How activation works
- Purchase the add-on (500 EUR/year) from your profile. A pending policy is created.
- Within your profile, complete the activation by uploading the required evidence:
- Short video of the engine running normally (within 7 days, no warning lights, dashboard visible)
- PDF of a complete OBD scan of all vehicle modules (Autel, Launch, Bosch KTS, Texa or equivalent professional tool)
- Photo of the ECU with the seal intact and part number visible
- Full ECU backup file — complete dump including EEPROM and calibration (not just the BIN map)
- VIN, make, model, year, odometer reading
- Acceptance of these Terms & Conditions (manual checkbox — not pre-ticked)
- Coverage starts 15 days after the purchase date. Incidents before this date are not eligible.
- The policy renews automatically each year unless cancelled.
How a claim works
- Within 5 days of the incident, file a claim from your profile.
- Upload all of the following evidence:
- OBD scan PDF showing the ECU is unreachable on all communication protocols
- Video showing the failure (no response from the ECU)
- Photo of the ECU post-failure (still with original seal, untampered)
- Hash + file of the exact BIN that was flashed (we compare with the original we delivered)
- Log of the customer’s reflash attempts using the original backup, both via OBD and bench mode
- Video of a second tool attempting to communicate with the ECU (also failing)
- Repair receipt from a workshop specialised in ECU repair, with verifiable VAT/SIRET, VIN, ECU part number, diagnosis
- VIN of the vehicle (must match the policy)
- The customer pays the repair first. Reimbursement up to the cap is processed after technical validation by our team and partner.
- Approval typically within 14 business days of receiving complete evidence.
Important small print
- One claim per lifetime per customer. After a paid or approved claim, the customer cannot purchase or receive coverage again, ever.
- Fraud detection. Any false statement, fabricated evidence, VIN mismatch, or attempt to defraud results in immediate policy cancellation without refund, account ban, and possible legal action.
- Refunds of the 500 EUR fee. The annual fee is not refundable once the policy is active. If you cancel mid-year, you remain covered until the end of the period but lose any future benefit.
- This is not insurance. The Hardware Protection Service is a goodwill-based repair credit offered by DaVinci Deluxe at our discretion within the limits described above. It is not regulated as an insurance product.
- Disputes. All disputes are governed by the law of the Member State where the customer resides (within the EU/EEA), or French law for customers outside that area. Arbitration via the platform ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr for EU consumers.
- Terms version. 1.0 · Last updated: 2026-05-31. We reserve the right to amend these terms; new versions apply at the next renewal.
