What does P0401 mean?
The DTC P0401 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Flow Insufficient) is a fault code stored by the ECU when it detects a EGR insufficient flow condition in the egr subsystem. It is commonly seen on European and Asian vehicles using Bosch, Continental, Siemens or Denso ECUs.
Common causes of P0401
- Carbon-clogged EGR valve
- Blocked EGR cooler
- Failed EGR position sensor
- Vacuum/electrical fault
How to fix P0401
